More from Kathleen McIntyre

Kathleen McIntyre

Kathleen McIntyre was born in 1962 in California and moved to Norway when she was six years old, where she has lived ever since. She has been represented by Galleri Ramfjord in Oslo and has had exhibitions both nationally and internationally.
She describes her artistic expression as a quest to "recreate the everyday" - find details that may not be visible at first glance, and weave them together into something new based only on the surroundings and the layers that exist there and then. In search of new connections that create harmony between elements that don't usually belong together. These details merge and are captured in the camera, without double exposure or other manipulation. One shot becomes the dogma.

Kathleen has recently created the art photo book "Color Me Softly" published by Kehrer Verlag in Germany, which is one of Europe's most recognized art book publishers. The book is a collection of her photographs from the past 15 years presented in a given color scale. The images are displayed in an unconventional way and explore new approaches to reading a picture, and a book. At the same time, the half pictures can be considered an extended form of diptych. The book does not follow a linear narrative, but through Kathleen's abstracted and colorful interpretations of reality, she conveys a peculiarity. Each picture has a story, a different look and a perspective on what we surround ourselves with on a daily basis and what we carry with us. We all have our experiences and our own baggage that we use when we see and what we choose to see. "With this book, I want to create space for reflection and challenge the imagination."
