Here, Granheim's work is exhibited together with other contemporary artists in a curated exhibition where the role of nature in art is at the center.

Artistic background

Tormod Granheim is a Norwegian adventurer, photographer and skier who has left his mark on both the mountaineering and art worlds. He is known for his extreme achievements in mountaineering – including being the first person in the world to climb Mount Everest in a single day and ski down its north face, and being the first Nordic climber to summit all 82 peaks in the Alps. The experiences from these boundless expeditions form the basis of his artistic work.

The exhibitions present photographs that are based on the mountain landscape – quiet, monumental and timeless, but also dark, inhospitable and threatening. Granheim has always had a camera with him, and he has worked both in front of and behind the lens for National Geographic . With reports from more than 25 countries, he has developed a unique ability to combine the documentary with the impressionistic.

His photographs have previously been shown at the Munch Museum , purchased by the Bærum Municipality Art Collection , and represented at DÁIDDA online gallery . In the exhibitions, the works are given space to emerge in large format, where textures, details and mood are enhanced.

Granheim's photography is more than nature images – they are stories of human longing, fear and dreams, mirrored in the silence and grandeur of the mountains. The audience is invited to experience the encounter between nature and man, where the boundaries between documentation and art flow into each other.
