Sverre Aurstad, Photographer
We can see because the light falls in, and it is the experiences of and response to light that means a lot to me as a photographer. The light becomes a motif in itself – an active form-defining material. Photography is unthinkable without light. It is the prerequisite for all processes in nature - and the starting point for every form.
“The shape is everything. But not enough," the author Kjell Askildsen has said.
I mostly photograph with analogue cameras and black-and-white film that I develop in the darkroom. The negatives are then digitized and further processed on screen in my studio. Actually, I process as little as possible. The images are produced with ink on thick cotton paper with a distinct structure.
